Not Too Bad

I like the base of this song and by that I mean the foundation. The concept is pretty unique kind of a daft punk glide sequence which is cool and I caught some industrial sounds towards the end of your final climax.

+ Good sounds
+ Good concept
+ Drum build is great
+ Melody/Drum cut at 1:46 is awesome

- Needs smoother transitions
(By this I mean thing about some pauses in between your builds to your climaxes, they're great ways to give the audience the oomf they're waiting for. When you climb and then throw a beat into your melody it just feels like an anti-climax which is prominent in hardstyle but not house)
- Compressions
(Look into compressions on your kicks. It gives them a much more solid role and house tracks tend to have some pretty strong kicks. Compressions will bump their low outputs which makes them sound professional and strong. I don't know if you use FL Studio but you can find them in your mastering tools)
- Melody Variation
(Try to give your melody more variety, your melody kind of hangs for a good minute and a half throughout the song and if you're going to do that then you need to have other sounds pass through it to keep the audience curious of what's to come next)

I like this, you have good potential!

Thanks for the review :) I agree with your points, but I made this song a couple summers ago (if I remember right I was 15) and have gotten a lot better at mixing sense then.
When I did mix this song I did it with a pair of monitors but no sub, so I had no low end past about 100Hz, and was kind of mixing the basses/bass kick in the dark.
That drum cut you hear is actually a gate with a very low threshold, I thought it turned out pretty cool. :)

Great Pallet

I like it! It's a great foundation for a good track just make sure to expand off of it.

A Trance song is usually placed around 128-140bpm while progressive house sits around 120-130bpm. A big difference between the two is how the synth, kicks and snares. Progressive house have that familiar hard kick snare pattern with more raw saw sounds while trance sticks to the sharp synths and softer kicks with more symbal patterns.

lantaren responds:

yeah, this is at 140 so it would be trance, but it really doesn't have the sharpness in the synths... I guess it's a new genre then? Idk what to call it then, but this is a faster progressive house maybe? idk then.. anyway, thanks for the review. I made a 5 minute version of this (not much variation, but enought to keep the user interested in the filter cutoffs, and placement of patterns.

so I would have to say that it's definitely house with key elements of trance in it. anyway, thanks for the review! maybe it's called... progressive trouce? Idk. should I upload the high quality, almost 10 MB, 5 min long version? I think I can... not sure if that's to much for ng's AP.

It's Like Halfway There

I like the track, I really do but the bassline seems very generic and the song doesn't have any real build-up. Try experimenting with synths and getting a full flavor of house. Your percussion is on point and your sweeps and fx are good choice and mixed well. Like I said, your only real work would have to be in that bassline and progression. Keep up the good work!

Thank you very much! I'll inform you of the finished product! :)

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it

I Like!

This is some good stuff man! Very Basshunter to me lol but hey, good work for realz! I can't really say you need to adjust anything. Maybe make the climax have more POW! to it? I dunno I dig it either way.

Check out my happy track I'm Shufflin' :D I'm on your level. I got the happy hardcore thing goin.

keosni391 responds:

Thanks :D

Pretty Damn Close

I really like the overall work. You designed a pretty solid hardstyle track and it's got perfect qualities as far as what you look for in a hardstyle track. The only thing I would say that doesn't give it the climax that I would be looking for, per se, is the synths at the climax. I'd get some harder synths - the ones you use seem to trancy for me. Always remember too: Hard BASS! lol

If you want check out my news track I'm Shufflin. Not hardstyle but definitely EDM.

Dj-Zexus responds:

I didn't add the hard bass because I felt like I wanted to try something new.
Something a bit more hardstyle rather than nu-style.
If you want hard bass check out my other tracks, though. C:

Thanks for the review.
